Eel Scientist
On Friday the 22th of March the whole batten team gathered in Room 4 to meet Don,
a Eel Scientist. Don told us that eels eat smaller eels and also that eels are slimy so that they can squeeze through tight spaces. Secondly that if they grab their food then they try and spin to rip their food. Thirdly there are 19 Species of eels and that little ducklings can be a eels food which is the same with crabs. Next they spend most time in freshwater and then when it's time for them to breed they go to Tonga. Another fact is that lots of eels have really great sense a smell if something dead that's in water and eels don't like the sunlight. Long fin Eels are fatter than short fin eels. Something else that I learnt is that eels are very hard to tell how old they are and lastly is that lots of eels eyes are very good for night when they are hunting for there food like Ducklings, Crabs or Meat.
